The NIOA Newsletter - November Edition
Greetings, friends of the NIOA!
Congratulations to Tim Woodard on his election to serve as an officer on the NIOA Board. He will replace Mike Franke, who has served the NIOA well for the last 4 years. Mike - thank you for your hard work & dedication to the organization! We are looking for host locations for 2019 training, and are always interested in finding relevant topics for training; please contact the NIOA officers if you have any suggestions.
November NIOA Meeting - You can congratulate Tim at the November NIOA Meeting when we visit the Turkey Creek Regional Sewer District on November 13th!. Registration will begin at 10am with a tour of the treatment plant, lunch and training to follow! Please RSVP no later than 4pm Nov. 11th so that we can get an accurate head count for lunch.
December NIOA Meeting - Christmas Gathering! - Mark your calendars for the annual Christmas luncheon and training in Nappanee on December 11th. Listen up - Register for lunch & pay your 2020 dues prior to or at the December meeting and lunch is free!!! The registration form can be found here. Looking for a job or have a job to offer? There have been a number of job postings on the NIOA website over the last 3 weeks. If you or someone you know are looking for a position in the wastewater industry, checkout the job postings at TheNIOA.net (you can also follow The NIOA on Facebook for timely notifications)! If your employer is hiring, please contact Craig for more information - you can list jobs for free if you are a current NIOA member.
IWEA Annual Conference - CEU Reports - IWEA has finalized the CEU submissions for attendees and submitted them to IDEM. You should have received an email from IWEA with a copy of your transcript, and Kylee has provided a list of attendees who had CEU reports sent to IDEM on their behalf. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Kylee!
IWEA - Annual Meeting and Strategic Planning Session - Join us on December 3, 2019, from 10:00-2:00 for the IWEA Annual Meeting and a special exercise that will focus on rebranding efforts for the association. This event is one that you don’t want to miss if you’re interested in helping shape the future of the association and the water sector in Indiana. This event is free!
Environmental Rules Board Petition - A number of Indiana Communities are petitioning the Indiana Environmental Rules Board to direct IDEM to adopt an Indiana-appropriate version of the 2012 EPA Recreational Water Quality Criteria. Adoption of this criteria will help provide regulatory certainty to over 100 Combined Sewer Overflow Communities that once they meet the required level of CSO control, future investments in wastewater infrastructure will not be wasted on massively expensive projects with no environmental benefit. This petition was submitted to the IDEM Office of Legal Council and the petition will be formally presented to the ERB on Nov. 13th. You can learn more about this issue here.
