Happy Groundhog Day!
- February Training: Join us at the Milford Wastewater Treatment Utility for February's meeting. Registration will begin at 10:00 am, training will begin at 10:30 am. Plan on 2 technical CEU's (WW) and/or 2 general CEU's (water). Topics will be on Electronics/Electricity 101 and a tour of the treatment plant. RSVP no later than noon, February 12.
- IWEA Training Opportunities: The NIOA calendar has been updated to include a number of training opportunities through our state organization, the Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA). The annual Residuals/Lab Conference will be in our neck of the woods (Fort Wayne's Anthony Wayne Convention Center) on March 22nd.
- EPA/IDEM Great Lakes CSO Reporting Changes: IDEM received notification on December 20, 2017, that the EPA Administrator signed (on December 18, 2017) into regulation a new federal rule titled “Final Public Notification Requirements for CSOs to the Great Lakes Basin.” This rule implements Section 425 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016, which required EPA to work with the Great Lakes States to establish public notification requirements for combined sewer discharges to the Great Lakes Basin. - IDEM Changes in Biosolids Land Application Reporting: Beginning with your January 2018 land application monthly report (due date March 2, 2018), we will be requiring submittal of documentation of pathogen and vector attraction reduction with all reports that indicate land application activity took place. Currently you are required to retain this information on file as part of your record keeping requirements. Only facilities with marketing and distribution permits are currently required to submit this information. Click here for more information on this change.
- EPA eDMR - Annual Sludge Report Changes: EPA is requiring all "majors" to submit their 2017 biosolids report through the eDMR program. Reports are due in February. Click here for more information on this change.
- IWEA Operator's Challenge: The NIOA would like to sponsor one or two teams to participate in the 2018 Operators' Challenge! This year's Operators Challenge will be held at the Shelbyville WWTP on May 22nd. It is a 1-day event this year. If your team is interested in being sponsored by the NIOA, please contact us!
