Annual Cookout & July Training. The July NIOA Meeting/Annual Cook out will be hosted by Chain o'Lakes State Park on July 13. We will meet at the Glacier Ridge Shelter, then take a short hike to the Wastewater Treatment Plant for a tour. Lunch (pork burgers & brats) will be served at the Glacier Ridge Shelter after the tour. After lunch, we will move to the historic "Stanley School" for training. We anticipate 2-2.5 hours of technical CEU's for the day. Please contact Mike, Bill or Craig to RSVP. RSVP's must be received by the end of the day, July 8 if you want to eat!

Job Opening. If you haven't heard, Tim Fredrick, General Manager for the Steuben Lakes Regional Waste District, will be retiring at the end of this year. The SLRWD is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of General Manager, with the intention of the new GM work alongside Tim through the end of the year. The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the District which currently has 5000 residential and commercial customers. As General Manager you will report to a seven member Board of Trustees, and you will directly or indirectly supervise a total team of fifteen employees. Your overall responsibilities will include the office, operations, and public relations. Please contact Pat McCombs, 260-489-3350 for more information.

Inter-Municipal Task Force Meeting. The Inter-Municipal Task Force (ITF) was created years ago to help wastewater utilities stay abreast of current state and federal regulations, share experiences with regulatory agencies and encourage active involvement in government affairs. Brady Dryer, Commonwealth Engineers, is helping us continue this effort. The next ITF meeting is scheduled for 10a - noon, June 29th at the Mishawaka Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1020 Lincolnway W, Mishawaka, IN 46544. Please RSVP to Jill Norton or Craig Williams

IWEA Annual Conference. The IWEA Annual Conference has moved to August! Everything is bigger this year! In addition to the regular training sessions, Barb Smith will be providing two days of INTENSE Wastewater Exam prep and there will be a Registered Pretreatment Coordinator Course available for those interested. The Westin has also provided more space for vendors, which means you will have even more opportunities to network & see new tools, products and services that can help you be more effective at your job.

If you know of a wastewater operator who would benefit from attending the annual conference, but their community/company may not pay for them to attend, please let Mike Franke, Bill Etzler or I know. The IWEA Leo Besozzi Delegate Award will pay 100% of the registration costs, room and board for an operator to attend the conference.

We hope to see you at the July Cookout -- Have a great Summer!
