Good Evening Friends of the NIOA!

April Training - Fort Wayne WWTP & Visit of the MaMa Jo Deep Tunnel. Plan to join us at the Fort Wayne Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2601 Dwenger Ave, on Wednesday, April 10th for a tour of the treatment facility, followed by a site visit to the Deep Tunnel site for a presentation on the tunnel and share lunch with us! Parking at the WWTP is available across the street. Registration @ 10:00a; Tour begins @ 10:30a sharp - don't be late! RSVP no later than 5:00p Thursday April 4!!!.

IWEA Operators Challenge. The annual Operator's Challenge will be in northern Indiana on Tuesday May 14th, at the Nappanee Wastewater Treatment Plant! This is a great opportunity to learn and to sharpen your skills in areas such as Biosolids/Land Application, Laboratory Operations, Operation & Maintenance, Collection Systems and Safety. The NIOA will pay all registration fees for a couple teams to participate! Contact any of your NIOA Board Members for more information or check out IWEA's link. . Engineering Consultants & Contractors - please consider participating and recruiting some of your municipal clients to make this event successful!

NIOA Doug Brookhart Scholarship - Nominations Needed by the End of April. We are also looking for nominees for the 4th annual Doug Brookhart Scholarship! As a tribute to Doug Brookhart, his support for NIOA and his assistance in all aspects of the important work done by plant operators, a scholarship has been created. The Scholarship consists of paid registration to the annual IWEA conference – all three (3) days, including lunches, hotel reservations at conference hotel for two (2) or three (3) nights, parking and $50 VISA gift card for meals. Estimated value = $1,100. Nominations are requested from all members by the end of April. Please contact Mike Franke for more information or to nominate someone. Wastewater 101 - Operator Exam Preparation: Barb Smith will be holding a two day, pre-certification test training class in the Kendallville Police training room, located at 234 South Main Street April 30th  & May 1st. More information HERE. Breakfast & Lunch provided both days.Barb has created a training exam (and an answer sheet) - find the exam HERE and the answers HERE!

IWEA Collection Systems Certification Exam: The Indiana Water Environmental Association will be holding two Collection System certification exams in Kendallville, April 25th & October 24th.  Related material attached HERE. Applications for the exam can be obtained at the IWEA website or HERE.

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) Collection Systems Conference: WEF is coming to Indiana in June with its annual Collection Systems Conference! IWEA staff and volunteers are actively working with WEF to provide an outstanding opportunity to participate in a world class conference, right here in Indiana!
